Collins was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka in Miami.

Despite losing to Aryna Sabalenka in the tournament, the American player didn`t leave empty-handed.

Last Saturday, Collins found a wounded dog on the road, a victim of a car accident.

Collins, ranked No. 15 in the world, took the dog to a vet and asked her followers on Instagram to send prayers for him.

After being able to bring him home, Collins announced that she named him “Crash”.

Collins shared that Crash is recovering after five days in the hospital receiving oxygen support.

She added that his breathing has returned to normal, his injuries are healing, and he is enjoying the affection he is receiving. She described him as curious, loving, and thankful for a second chance.

Collins expressed how painful it was to see the dog suffering after being hit by a car and left on the road.

“I`m just grateful I could be there to ensure he got the necessary help,” she said.

She confirmed that she has officially adopted him and plans to take him to training once he fully recovers.

Collins, who previously reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon in women`s doubles in 2022, had considered retiring at the end of last season.

Due to fertility issues related to her endometriosis, Collins has decided to continue playing tennis.

She mentioned on social media that recent hurricanes in Florida and her ongoing health issues have been stressful.

Although she was looking forward to ending her tennis career and starting a new chapter, her plans changed.

Besides managing her health challenges, she has been consulting specialists to find the best way to achieve her dream of starting a family.

Collins acknowledged that dealing with endometriosis and fertility is a significant challenge for many women, which she is actively addressing, and is confident in her medical team. She stated it will take longer than initially expected.

Therefore, “the DANIMAL story” is not over, and she will return to the tour in 2025.

Collins is expected to drop out of the world`s top 20 after the Miami Open in the new rankings.

She is scheduled to begin her clay court season in Charleston next week.
