Kyoji Horiguchi`s planned return to the UFC in June will not be happening as scheduled. The Japanese flyweight star, who previously challenged for a UFC title, was set to compete at the UFC Baku event on June 21st, marking the promotion`s debut in Azerbaijan.
Unfortunately, Horiguchi has been removed from his bout against Tagir Ulanbekov for unspecified reasons, preventing his appearance on the card.
Stepping in to face Ulanbekov on relatively short notice is Azat Maksum. The fight is expected to proceed as planned approximately four weeks from now.
Maksum takes the fight with a UFC record of 1-1. His tenure in the promotion includes a victory over Tyson Nam and a decision loss to Charles Johnson.
For Tagir Ulanbekov, this bout provides an opportunity to secure his fourth consecutive victory. He is currently on a winning streak, having previously defeated Clayton Carpenter, Cody Durden, and Nate Maness.
The UFC Baku card, scheduled for June 21st, is headlined by a light heavyweight clash featuring former champion Jamahal Hill against Khalil Rountree Jr.
