Jannik Sinner continued his impressive run, extending his record for the most consecutive sets won at ATP Masters 1,000 tournaments to 28 as he advanced to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open.
The world number two from Italy, who on Monday surpassed Novak Djokovic’s decade-old record of 24 consecutive sets, defeated American Alex Michelsen with a score of 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).
Grand Slam champion Sinner demonstrated resilience, coming back from a 5-2 deficit in the second set to secure his victory. He is now set to face American 19th seed Frances Tiafoe in the next round.
Sinner’s recent dominance is highlighted by his consecutive victories at the last two Masters 1,000 events – in Paris last November and Indian Wells earlier this month – remarkably, without dropping a single set in either tournament.
