For the second straight year, the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers are set to compete in the Stanley Cup Final.
The Oilers secured their place in the playoff`s final round on Thursday, defeating the Dallas Stars 5-3 in Game 5.
Captain Connor McDavid netted the game-winning goal for Edmonton – their fourth of the night – in the second period. His team consistently managed to counter the pushback from Dallas throughout the game.
This marks the second consecutive season the Oilers have eliminated the Stars in the Western Conference Final. Last year, in 2024, it took them six games to advance.
Edmonton will host Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the reigning champions on Wednesday, June 5. Fans recall that in the previous season`s championship series, the Western Conference finalists nearly completed an incredible comeback, erasing a 3-0 series deficit against the Panthers before ultimately losing in Game 7.
