Shakur Stevenson maintained a strictly professional attitude during his pre-fight staredown with upcoming opponent William Zepeda, following a press conference in New York City.
Stevenson is scheduled to defend his WBC lightweight championship title in the main event against Zepeda. The fight is set to take place in New York City on July 12th.
The undefeated 27-year-old fighter hailing from New Jersey seeks to deliver another impressive performance, with the goal of securing a more significant bout in the future should he emerge victorious. However, Zepeda, who boasts an unblemished 33-0 professional record and holds the interim WBC lightweight title after defeating Tevin Farmer last November, presents a formidable challenge and is equally focused on achieving a breakthrough win.
Co-Main Event Staredown: Berlanga vs. Sheeraz
In contrast to the main event`s calm demeanor, the faceoff for the co-main event was considerably more heated. Edgar Berlanga, known for his animated personality, went to great lengths to agitate his opponent, Hamzah Sheeraz, as they came face-to-face on stage.
Berlanga repeatedly directed provocative hand gestures, mimicking a gun, towards Sheeraz. When this failed to elicit a strong enough reaction, he dramatically intensified his actions, pretending to use a machine gun in a display seemingly inspired by the movie Scarface right there on stage.
Despite Berlanga`s provocative behavior, the confrontation did not escalate physically. Security personnel were quick to intervene and separate the two fighters before any physical altercation could occur.
