OTTAWA — The Stanley Cup Playoffs can be ruthless.

After an eight-year playoff absence, the Ottawa Senators` path this season may not even last eight days.

For the second straight game in this first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Senators lost 3-2 in overtime despite a determined third-period comeback. The Senators are now in an unenviable position, trailing their archrival 3-0 in the series.

“It’s discouraging, to say the least,” commented head coach Travis Green.

The last two games have brought the most bitter disappointments.

“Two games in a row. It was decided by one shot,” commented captain Brady Tkachuk.
