Ottawa Senators are on the verge of ending their playoff absence, and fans may soon celebrate this achievement.

The Senators moved significantly closer to securing a postseason berth with a 4-0 victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets at home on Sunday.

If Ottawa confirms their playoff entry, it will mark the team`s first playoff appearance since 2017.

The Senators hold a substantial lead for the first wild-card spot and still have a chance to ascend into the top three positions in the Atlantic Division.

Ottawa achieved back-to-back shutouts this weekend, commencing with a 3-0 win over the Florida Panthers on Saturday.

Linus Ullmark secured a shutout against the Blue Jackets, following Anton Forsberg`s shutout performance against Florida.

Adam Gaudette, Nikolas Matinpalo, David Perron, and Shane Pinto were the goalscorers for Ottawa on Sunday.

Columbus also experienced consecutive shutouts this weekend; however, the Blue Jackets failed to score in either game, significantly impacting their playoff aspirations. On Saturday, Columbus was shut out by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
