NEWARK, N.J. — In a Saturday night game, David Perron`s power-play goal in the second period sealed a 3-2 victory for the Ottawa Senators against the New Jersey Devils.
The Senators` win, their seventh in the last nine games, was also supported by goals from Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson. Goalie Linus Ullmark made 25 saves.
For the Devils, who have now lost three of their last four games, Nico Hischier and Erik Haula scored. Jake Allen recorded 16 saves in goal.
Tkachuk opened the scoring in the second period at 4:05, marking his 28th goal of the season. Shortly after, at 4:38, Batherson increased Ottawa`s lead with his 20th goal.
Hischier responded for the Devils with a power-play goal at 7:13, his 30th of the season, extending his point streak to six games.
However, Perron quickly regained a two-goal advantage for Ottawa, scoring his sixth goal of the season just 1:31 after Hischier`s goal.
Late in the third period, Haula narrowed the gap to one goal with 23 seconds remaining, scoring his eighth of the season.
Despite intense pressure from the New Jersey Devils in the final seconds, Ullmark held strong, making crucial saves, and Sanderson cleared a critical puck near the goal line, securing the Senators` win.
