Ryan Garcia Interested in Boxing Match Against Jake Paul

Sports news » Ryan Garcia Interested in Boxing Match Against Jake Paul

Ryan Garcia is currently dealing with a lawsuit involving Logan Paul, but this hasn`t stopped him from considering a possible boxing match with Logan`s brother, Jake Paul.

The 26-year-old boxer recently shared his thoughts on the Paul brothers. He used to be friends with Jake, but later had disagreements with Logan. The main issue arose from Garcia`s comments about Logan’s Prime Energy drink company, which resulted in Logan filing a defamation lawsuit against Garcia.

Despite the ongoing legal situation with Logan, Garcia says he doesn`t have any negative feelings towards Jake and would be willing to fight him.

“I don’t really have a problem with Jake,” Garcia said in an interview. “My issue is with Logan. I didn’t appreciate him calling me crazy when I was talking about sex trafficking and trying to raise awareness. I reacted strongly to him, and that’s where our disagreement began.”

“I criticized his drink – I won’t repeat exactly what I said now because of the lawsuit – and that’s when the hostility started.”

Regarding his boxing career, Garcia is already scheduled to fight Rolly Romero in May. A victory in that fight could lead to a rematch with Devin Haney.

However, when asked about the possibility of fighting Jake Paul, Garcia didn`t reject the idea, especially considering the potential financial benefits of such a high-profile fight. He would have to concede weight to Paul, but Garcia thinks this would only delay Paul`s inevitable defeat.

“Why not?” Garcia said about fighting Paul. “Of course, I’d give up weight. The fight has significant value. We would both make a lot of money. He clearly thinks he can win, but I see that he’s not as good as he believes he is.”

Jake Paul`s most recent fight was a decision victory in an eight-round match against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson. The fight attracted over 100 million viewers on Netflix, further increasing Paul`s popularity in the boxing world.

While it`s debatable how much credit Jake deserves for defeating a 58-year-old Mike Tyson, Garcia believes the fight revealed what he needed to know about Paul`s abilities.

“Maybe I’d need five rounds, or four rounds because of his weight?” Garcia speculated. “But he didn’t even really do anything to Mike Tyson, and Mike Tyson is almost 60 and unsteady on his feet.”

Garcia’s interest in fighting Jake Paul is primarily business-driven, recognizing the lucrative nature of the potential matchup for both fighters.

Garcia emphasizes that he holds no personal animosity towards Jake, regardless of his ongoing legal dispute with Logan.

“I don’t have any real issues with Jake, even now,” Garcia stated. “He might have a problem with me, though.”
