Ronaldo Rodriguez’s Difficult Weight Cut and Loss at UFC Mexico

Sports news » Ronaldo Rodriguez’s Difficult Weight Cut and Loss at UFC Mexico

Ronaldo Rodriguez`s time at UFC Mexico could hardly have been worse.

Not only did “Lazy Boy” lose a clear decision to Kevin Borjas, who was considered the less likely winner, but he also weighed in one pound over the limit the day before the fight and apparently needed to be hospitalized afterwards.

Rodriguez shared photos and a video on Instagram showing his health problems.

Alongside his wife Nina, Rodriguez seems to be in good spirits despite his first loss in the UFC. The 25-year-old, who has a large following of over two million on Instagram, had previously won against Ode Osbourne and Denys Bondar in the UFC, but his seven-fight winning streak ended with the loss to Borjas.

Rodriguez was also fined 20% of his fight earnings for being 127 pounds at the weigh-in, which is one pound above the flyweight limit for non-title fights.

In an earlier post, Rodriguez made it clear that he is not making excuses for the loss.
