Latin America`s largest and most anticipated gaming and esports awards ceremony, the Prêmio eSports Brasil (PeB), is set to return for its ninth edition in 2025. The event, scheduled for December 18th, will take place at the Memorial da América Latina in São Paulo and is promising significant updates, including several new award categories, a distinct thematic approach, and the introduction of an official merchandise line.
For 2025, the PeB adopts a “cyberpunk” theme. This stylistic choice aims to embody the technological, innovative, and transformative spirit that gaming and esports represent in the modern landscape. It signals an event that is not only a celebration of current achievements but also a nod to the future trajectory of the industry.
The awards ceremony has historically presented nearly 150 trophies over eight editions, honoring a broad spectrum of athletes, streamers, influencers, and developers across various gaming and esports disciplines. The 2025 edition will maintain its structure of popular vote categories, such as “Best Streamer of the Year” and a fan-voted “Crowd Favorite,” alongside technical categories determined by a Superjúri.
A notable expansion this year focuses on recognizing a wider array of professionals vital to the ecosystem. New categories have been introduced, including “Best Commentator,” dedicated to those who lend their voices to broadcasts and enhance the viewer experience; “Best Team” and “Best Coach,” acknowledging the collaborative effort and strategic direction behind competitive success. Furthermore, the event will distinguish content creators across different formats with the new “Best Creator: Short Form” and “Best Creator: Long Form” awards, reflecting the diverse ways talent is shared and consumed today.
Gustavo Freudenfeld, PeB`s General Director, articulated the award`s strategic intent, stating that PeB strives to strengthen Brazilian esports by creating a dedicated space for recognition and appreciation of those who build the scene daily. He highlighted that beyond merely presenting awards, the event provides a unique platform for visibility and brings together professionals, organizations, and communities driving the sector forward. The objective, he noted, is to contribute to a more solid and respected ecosystem, emphasizing that games and esports now embody culture, innovation, and real-world impact, inspiring a new generation.
Marisa Mestiço, the Artistic Director, added that the chosen theme for this edition also reflects the spirit of community and evolution that PeB values. According to Mestiço, the 2025 event is an invitation for attendees and viewers to consider what lies ahead, both within the gaming world and society at large.
The ceremony is scheduled for live broadcast through sportv, as well as on the official Player1 and PeB channels on platforms like YouTube and other social media. Additional information regarding presenters, the Superjúri panel, nominees, scheduled attractions, and voting procedures is expected to be released progressively over the coming months via the official PeB website. The 9th Prêmio eSports Brasil is poised to be a significant occasion for the Latin American esports community, celebrating achievements while embracing a forward-looking, dynamic vision.
