Bokondji Imama`s season is over early due to injury.

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Saturday that Imama had successful surgery at UPMC Mercy Hospital to fix a torn bicep. He is expected to need four to six months to recover.

Imama, who is 28 years old, was playing in his fourth season in the NHL. In 16 games this season, he scored one goal and had 30 penalty minutes. He also played 24 games in the AHL, where he scored five points.

It`s not known exactly when Imama got hurt. He played for 5 minutes and 41 seconds on Tuesday, which is normal for him, but then he didn`t play in Pittsburgh`s game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.

Imama was originally drafted in the sixth round in 2015. Before joining Pittsburgh, he played in the NHL with the Arizona Coyotes and Ottawa Senators. He will become a free agent this summer.
