Paul Felder’s Manager Responds to Colby Covington’s Military Base Story

Sports news » Paul Felder’s Manager Responds to Colby Covington’s Military Base Story

Brian Butler, manager of UFC fighter Paul Felder, is addressing recent claims made by Colby Covington regarding an incident at a military base.

In a recent interview, Colby Covington recounted a story about a 2017 military base visit with Felder, alleging that Felder was drunk, verbally abusive, and ultimately handcuffed to a toilet by military police. Covington painted a picture of Felder behaving disrespectfully and losing control.

Butler, however, clarifies that while there are elements of truth in Covington`s narrative, the more sensational aspects are exaggerated. He confirms that alcohol was involved during an evening in the hotel lobby with Felder, Miesha Tate, and others after a day of engaging with troops.

According to Butler, the evening involved drinks and good company, but Felder, known for his self-deprecating humor, became irritated by lighthearted teasing and retreated to his room. Later, a water leak was discovered coming from Felder`s room, causing concern.

Upon investigating, Butler and others, including Covington, found Felder`s hotel room damaged due to a broken toilet. Butler emphasizes that while Felder had been drinking and was clearly inebriated, the story of military police intervention and handcuffing to a toilet is completely fabricated.

Butler appreciates Covington`s willingness to enter Felder`s room with him during the incident, but stresses that the situation was blown out of proportion. He dismisses Covington`s version of events as a significant embellishment of a minor, alcohol-fueled incident involving a broken toilet, not an arrest or military police involvement.

Butler confirms that the group, including military personnel, have since shared laughs about the event, and Felder was never in serious trouble, nor was he disrespectful to the troops. The manager aimed to correct the record and dispel the more outlandish claims made by Covington.
