Sports news » Panthers’ Tkachuk ejected from Game 3 for hit on Lightning’s Guentzel

Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk faced ejection late in Game 3 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was assessed a major penalty after delivering a hit on Lightning forward Jake Guentzel.

The incident occurred right as Anthony Cirelli scored an empty-net goal, which extended the Lightning`s lead to 5-1 with only five minutes remaining in the game.

Despite the forceful contact, Guentzel remained in the game. Immediately following the play, his teammates confronted Tkachuk. After the game concluded, Guentzel stated his expectation that the NHL would review the hit for potential disciplinary action.

“I passed the puck and it felt like a long time after I got hit,” Guentzel commented. “I`m sure the league is going to take a look at it. We know the history of what`s happened the last couple games. I`m sure they`ll do their job.”
