It didn`t take long for Brad Marchand to make his presence felt in the Eastern Conference Final.
Marchand received a game misconduct penalty in the third period of Tuesday`s opening game against the Carolina Hurricanes following some extracurricular activity that resulted in a brief skirmish with Shayne Gostisbehere.
The Florida Panthers forward skated towards Gostisbehere as the Hurricanes defenseman was contesting for the puck in his own zone, seemingly aiming for what appeared to be a late hit.
Although no penalty was initially called on the play, Gostisbehere responded moments later by shooting the puck at Marchand.
Marchand then aggressively approached the veteran NHL defenseman, and the two exchanged quick punches while Florida held a 4-1 lead.
Referees assessed Gostisbehere a two-minute penalty for roughing, while Marchand was given a 10-minute game misconduct along with four minutes for roughing.
