Paddy Pimblett Predicts Victory Over Michael Chandler at UFC 314

Sports news » Paddy Pimblett Predicts Victory Over Michael Chandler at UFC 314

Paddy Pimblett is very confident as he approaches the most important fight of his career.

Known as “The Baddy,” Pimblett will face Michael Chandler in the co-main event of UFC 314, taking place in Miami at the Kaseya Center. This fight is significant for both athletes. Pimblett, currently ranked just outside the top 15 in global MMA rankings, could significantly improve his position with a win against Chandler, who is ranked No. 14.

Pimblett not only anticipates defeating Chandler, a former three-time Bellator champion, but also aims for a decisive victory that leaves no doubt for the judges.

“I believe I will finish Mike within two rounds,” Pimblett stated in a UFC interview that also included Chandler. “I am confident I can end this fight in any situation. He tends to rush in with his punches, and I can see myself catching him with a strike as he comes forward, knocking him down. Alternatively, I could see myself submitting him. Honestly, I don’t see any scenario where I lose.”

Chandler is known for his high-stakes, all-or-nothing fighting style in the octagon. Since joining UFC from Bellator in 2021, Chandler has competed against top-tier fighters like Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje, giving these future Hall of Famers tough challenges.

Despite having more losses than wins in the UFC, Chandler has earned respect for the caliber of his opponents. He is preparing to face Pimblett with the same level of seriousness as he has approached his previous fights.

“Looking at the strength of my past opponents, facing fighters who are considered among the best in the lightweight division, future Hall of Famers, that’s been my journey so far,” Chandler said. “However, I am not underestimating Paddy. Just because he hasn`t faced top-ranked opponents doesn`t mean he is weak.”

“I am treating Paddy as the most dangerous opponent I could possibly face. Even if he looks young, he fights with intensity, and we are ready to deliver an exciting show for the fans.”

Pimblett has an undefeated 6-0 record in the UFC and has gained considerable attention for his exciting fighting style and outspoken personality. While he may not have the same resume as Chandler’s previous opponents, he is a rising contender who could potentially end Chandler’s hopes for a UFC championship.

Pimblett is certain that Chandler will not defeat him by knockout.

“It’s true, the fighters he has faced are top-level, Hall of Fame caliber,” Pimblett acknowledged. “He’s fought Poirier, Gaethje, and Oliveira – all the best lightweights in the division for the last several years. But I believe I will make it look easier against him than they did. They played into Mike’s style by engaging in brawls. I am confident I can win this fight no matter where it goes.”

“The only way I can lose is if I get caught with a lucky, powerful shot to the chin, but as everyone knows, people from Liverpool are not easily knocked out, so that’s not going to happen.”
