Despite ongoing injury recovery, Paddy Pimblett has started his training camp in anticipation of a potential return at UFC 329. The event is rumored to take place during International Fight Week, with a possible matchup against Benoit Saint-Denis on July 11th in Las Vegas. Both fighters have subtly suggested this bout could be on the horizon.
Pimblett’s last appearance was at UFC 324 in January, where he faced Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title. He suffered a unanimous decision loss and sustained visible injuries, including facial lacerations, from the intense fight.
In a recent YouTube video, Pimblett shared footage of his training session with veteran Dong Hyun Kim. He admitted that he is not yet at his peak performance level and is still dealing with minor injuries. This is why he decided to begin his camp earlier, hoping these issues will resolve in the coming weeks to allow for more focused training.
The loss to Gaethje was Pimblett’s first defeat in the UFC, ending a seven-fight winning streak. The 31-year-old fighter holds significant victories over opponents like Michael Chandler, Terrance “T.W.” McKinney, and Tony Ferguson. He currently has a 7-1 record in the UFC and an overall professional MMA record of 23-4.
