Sports news » Oilers’ Stuart Skinner Considered Day-to-Day
Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner exited Wednesday`s game against the Dallas Stars after Mikko Rantanen inadvertently hit Skinner`s head with his knee while skating by.

The Edmonton Oilers are expected to have their starting goaltender back soon.

Stuart Skinner is being evaluated daily after leaving Wednesday`s game against the Dallas Stars in the third period. Head coach Kris Knoblauch informed reporters on Thursday that Skinner`s status is day-to-day. This update was provided before their game against the Seattle Kraken.

Skinner`s injury occurred late in Wednesday`s game when Dallas Stars winger Mikko Rantanen`s knee made contact with Skinner`s head. While the collision seemed accidental, Skinner was taken out of the game and replaced by backup goalie Calvin Pickard.

Following the game, Coach Knoblauch mentioned that Skinner would not travel with the team. Pickard is scheduled to start for the Oilers in their game against the Kraken.

This season, Skinner has played 49 games, recording a 2.91 goals-against average and a save percentage of .894.

Knoblauch also announced that Mattias Ekholm will be resting for the second game of the back-to-back. Ty Emberson and John Klingberg are set to rejoin the lineup.
