2025 Stanley Cup Final

EDMONTON – It was never expected to be easy.

These two teams needed nine periods to settle the first two contests of the Stanley Cup Final. Following their 5-4 double overtime defeat in Game 2, the Edmonton Oilers will draw upon the experience gained from playing 13 playoff series over the last four years.

The series now becomes a best-of-five showdown for the Stanley Cup. There`s no room for dwelling on the loss.

Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch advised, “There will naturally be some disappointment. However, our team`s mindset has always been that regardless of the outcome – whether it`s a poor performance, a close match, overtime, a devastating loss, or an easy win – we move past it and prepare for the next game.”

He added, “In the playoffs, you learn that things don`t always unfold as you`d wish. Sometimes events favor you, and other times they don`t.”

Given that both games went into overtime, the series could easily have been 2-0 for either side. However, a 1-1 series split as the teams head to Florida fairly reflects the overall play seen in Games 1 and 2.
