During Saturday`s game between the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, play was suspended when a spectator in the stands required urgent medical attention and was transported by ambulance.
The game at Edmonton`s venue was paused for approximately ten minutes in the initial period due to this emergency.
Louie DeBrusk from Sportsnet reported that an individual collapsed on the steps near the Oilers bench. Details regarding the person`s condition were not immediately available from the team.
As per league regulations, an ambulance must be present at the arena throughout game nights. Consequently, officials had to wait for a replacement ambulance to arrive before the game could continue.
