Connor McDavid has officially joined a highly select group of players in NHL playoff history.
By scoring his initial goal of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday during the third period of Game 5, the prominent Edmonton Oilers forward ascended to become the third quickest player ever to compile 150 career points in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
McDavid achieved this significant mark in just 95 games, a pace exceeded only by legendary figures Wayne Gretzky (who reached 150 points in 68 games) and Mario Lemieux (who did so in 86 games).
His well-executed goal provided a temporary boost to the Oilers, reducing the Florida Panthers` advantage to 3-1.
Nonetheless, the Panthers were quick to respond. Merely 46 seconds later, Sam Reinhart found the back of the net, re-establishing Florida`s three-goal cushion.
Throughout the current post-season, McDavid stands out as the leading scorer across all teams, having registered 33 points (comprising seven goals and 26 assists) over 21 appearances.
