Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid will be sidelined for at least the next two games due to a lower-body injury.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch announced on Sunday that McDavid is expected to miss these games but should return before the end of the regular season.
McDavid`s injury occurred on March 20th during a game against the Winnipeg Jets. He has already missed the team`s last four games.
Knoblauch indicated that while there`s a general timeline for McDavid`s return, it won`t be in the immediate future. The priority is to ensure McDavid is fully recovered and at 100 percent for the playoffs.
McDavid was absent from practice on Sunday. Goaltender Stuart Skinner also missed practice as he recovers from an injury sustained in a collision during a previous game.
In positive news for the Oilers, Leon Draisaitl has returned to the lineup and performed strongly, scoring twice in a recent game against the Calgary Flames.
The Oilers are currently tied for second place in the Pacific Division and are preparing for an important game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.
