EDMONTON – Bouncing back from a heartbreaking defeat, the Edmonton Oilers delivered their strongest performance of the playoffs.
Behind two goals from Adam Henrique and a 23-save shutout by Stuart Skinner, the Oilers defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 on Monday, establishing a dominant 3-1 advantage in their second-round NHL playoff series.
Evander Kane also contributed a goal and an assist for Edmonton. The team was motivated after a tough Game 3 loss on Saturday, where they conceded the winning goal with only 0.4 seconds left, resulting in a 4-3 scoreline.
“I think everyone was fully focused after the major letdown from Game 3, both in our play and the finish,” commented Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch. “They understood the need to elevate their game tonight.”
Skinner returned to the crease for Edmonton, stepping in for Calvin Pickard, who had previously won six straight games but was injured in Game 2. Despite entering the game with a 5.36 goals-against average, Skinner improved his post-season record to 1-3 with the shutout victory.
