Nintendo Switch 2 Price Hike to 500 Euros in Europe

Sports news » Nintendo Switch 2 Price Hike to 500 Euros in Europe

Nintendo’s latest financial report has confirmed the anticipated price increase for the Switch 2, with the console expected to retail for close to 500 euros in Europe.

This price adjustment will not be immediate, taking effect in September. In Japan, both hardware and Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions will see price increases before the end of summer. Nintendo cites “changes in market conditions” and a review of the “global business landscape” as reasons for this decision. The price hike had been speculated for some time, and its impact on Nintendo’s stock value will be closely watched. Stocks have been lower than usual, partly due to the console’s previously perceived low price point relative to its profitability, which has been affected by rising component costs and other global economic challenges.

The report also indicated a downward revision of hardware sales forecasts for the current fiscal year. Software performance has been generally stable, with the notable exception of Mario Tennis Fever, which did not meet expectations. In other significant news, one of Nintendo’s key figures, Takashi Tezuka, has announced his retirement.
