Paige VanZant, known for her UFC career and current involvement in Power Slap, and Bryce Hall, a social media influencer turned bare-knuckle fighter, are making their debut in a horror film.
Skillhouse, a horror movie produced by Ryan Kavanaugh`s GenTV productions, is scheduled for a nationwide release on July 11th through Fathom Entertainment. This news was initially reported by Deadline.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson headlines the film, which is directed by Josh Stolberg, recognized for his work on horror films like Saw X, Jigsaw, and Piranha 3D.
The movie is described as a “social media nightmare” where ten influencers are enticed into a sinister content house. They are then forced to participate in deadly social media challenges, highlighting that in the world of Skillhouse, social media clout is not just popularity, but a matter of survival.
Kavanaugh, a producer with credits on major films such as The Social Network, The Fighter, and Mamma Mia!, is also known in the fight world as the former owner of Triller, the parent company of BKFC.
Kavanaugh stated, “Skillhouse has been a groundbreaking film project from the beginning – exciting and engaging for social media users and horror fans of all ages.”
He further added, “Skillhouse transcends the typical horror film; it is timely and innovative, utilizing the influence and appeal of social media personalities and integrating them into the narrative. GenTV is delighted to collaborate with Fathom to create a special theatrical experience for this movie.”
This film marks VanZant`s first significant role in a movie after gaining fame in the UFC and later signing a lucrative contract with BKFC. Recently, VanZant has also joined Dana White`s Power Slap promotion.
Hall takes on a leading role in the movie, with parts of the filming taking place in Sway House, a location where many prominent social media influencers, including Hall, initially rose to fame.
Skillhouse is set to premiere in theaters on the same day as the highly anticipated Superman film by writer and director James Gunn.
