Nate Diaz seems to attract dramatic situations wherever he goes, and his latest adventure was no exception.
The popular fighter recently traveled to Thailand to film a reality show project, reportedly similar in format to *The Ultimate Fighter*, alongside UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones. However, the production reportedly ground to a halt on the very first day when Diaz became involved in an altercation with one of the participants. This quickly escalated into a brawl, bringing filming to an abrupt end.
Diaz subsequently shared behind-the-scenes footage of his trip to Thailand on his YouTube channel. The video included glimpses of his initial meeting with Jones and the melee that followed shortly after.
In a pre-show interview segment filmed alongside Jones, Diaz commented on the environment:
“I don’t know,” Diaz said. “I don’t know what I got in to. I just came in, they were already going at it with each other. I was on *The Ultimate Fighter*, so I imagine it’s going to be pretty crazy.”
Although the physical confrontation reportedly didn`t result in serious injuries, the incident marked the end of the road for Diaz and his team on the show. They departed the set and continued their travels, visiting other locations in Thailand and later Hong Kong.
Diaz later briefly addressed the incident, expressing his disappointment and suggesting that others had antagonized him.
“Came out to do a little reality show with Jon Jones,” Diaz explained. “I was looking forward to hanging out with Jones and the team and everybody and it didn’t work out because they the opps. We ain’t f***ing with any of them Russians. But anyways, they ain’t f***ing with me, so that’s what it is.”
Diaz, who turned 40 this past April, is currently on a break from active competition while planning his next career move. His most recent appearance in the UFC was in September 2022, where he secured a submission victory over Tony Ferguson in his final fight under that contract. Following his departure from the UFC, he transitioned into professional boxing.
In his boxing debut, Diaz lost a unanimous decision to Jake Paul. However, he bounced back in July with a decision win against fellow former UFC contender Jorge Masvidal.
