UFC Fighter Alibi Idiris Suspended for 12 Months After Failed Drug Test; Win Overturned

UFC flyweight Alibi Idiris has been handed a one-year suspension by Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), the promotion's anti-doping agency, effectively barring him from competition until 2027. This penalty follows a violation of drug-testing policies, as announced on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Kazakh fighter tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic and masking agent forbidden in competition due to its ability to facilitate rapid fluid loss and potentially conceal other prohibited substances. The positive sample was collected on February 21, 2026, the same day Idiris secured a unanimous decision victory against Ode Osbourne at UFC Houston.

The UFC stated that Idiris cooperated with investigators, admitting to using the substance during his weight cut. However, CSAD declined to reduce the severity of the penalty, emphasizing that the knowing use of a diuretic during fight week, and the unfair advantage gained in making weight, was a serious offense.

“CSAD is not suspending or reducing any period of his ineligibility due to the seriousness of knowingly using a diuretic during fight week and the advantage that he received in making his contracted weight.”

With the suspension applied retroactively, Idiris is ineligible to compete until February 21, 2027.

In addition to the suspension, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has nullified Idiris's win over Osbourne. As the substance is also forbidden under state regulations, the fight outcome has been officially changed to a no-contest.

Path to the UFC

Alibi Idiris gained his UFC contract after appearing on Season 33 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) as a member of Team Cormier. His journey on the show began with a unanimous decision win against Furkatbek Yokubov in February 2025, followed by a knockout victory over Roybert Echeverria in the semifinals the next month.

Although he was submitted by Joseph Morales in the second round of the TUF 33 finale at UFC 319 last August, his performance was deemed strong enough to earn him a place in the UFC roster, leading to his bout with Ode Osbourne.

Idiris's professional mixed martial arts record now stands at 11-1, with one no-contest, comprising six knockout victories.
