Former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling has offered his perspective on the recent downturn in Israel Adesanya's fighting career, marked by a four-fight losing streak.

Just last weekend, Adesanya suffered his fourth consecutive defeat in mixed martial arts, succumbing to a TKO loss against Joe Pyfer. This marked his third straight finish loss, prompting widespread speculation about whether he should consider retirement. While Israel Adesanya himself has publicly stated he isn't contemplating retirement at this moment, the mounting concerns are undeniable.

In a recent video, Aljamain Sterling became the latest prominent fighter to weigh in on Adesanya's current struggles.

Aljamain Sterling's Analysis of Adesanya's Losing Streak

Sterling commented on his YouTube channel, "It seems Izzy often appears to be winning these fights, yet somehow, he ultimately doesn't." He added, "He certainly still possesses the ability to compete. However, I believe a few aspects of Izzy's game have shifted. The most significant change that stands out to me is his reflexes."

"I simply don't believe his reaction time is as sharp or as quick as it once was," Sterling elaborated. "I want to give full credit to Joe Pyfer, as I thought he performed exceptionally well. Despite a challenging start, Pyfer successfully lured Izzy into fighting his preferred style. Once he achieved this, he was able to close the distance, secure a takedown, and deliver the finishing blows to end the fight."

"Pyfer is undeniably the larger, stronger fighter. Izzy demonstrated good defensive skills. I thought that if he had maintained the range, which he executed very effectively in the first round, he honestly could have sustained that approach for five rounds, assuming his cardio held up. But for some reason, he chose to alter his strategy and engage in close-range exchanges."

"The fighting distance transitioned from the outside to a very close range – precisely where Pyfer needed him. Although Izzy evaded a couple of significant shots, I thought he looked really impressive in the first round right up until the second."
