Michael Morales achieved a decisive and seemingly effortless victory over Gilbert Burns in the main event of UFC Vegas 106. Morales appeared completely untroubled after the stoppage, showing no signs of being impacted by the fight.
The 25-year-old Ecuadorian prospect made quick work of Burns, a perennial welterweight contender and former title challenger. Needing less than four minutes to secure the most significant win of his career, Morales extended his perfect professional mixed martial arts record to an impressive 18-0.
Morales immediately put pressure on Burns, landing strikes early that visibly hurt the veteran and sent him to the canvas. While Burns, known as “Durinho,” managed to secure a double leg takedown briefly, Morales quickly scrambled back to his feet. Once standing, Morales unleashed a barrage of punches, overwhelming Burns until referee Herb Dean intervened to stop the contest at the 3:39 mark of the opening round.
UFC fighters and champions were among those watching the action unfold, reacting to Morales` impressive breakout performance.
