The headline bout for UFC Vegas 107 was abruptly cancelled moments before the scheduled walkouts. Maycee Barber experienced a sudden medical issue and was consequently not cleared to compete, leading to the last-minute cancellation.
This unforeseen development marks another frustrating turn for Barber. She has faced a challenging period, being out of action since March 2024 due to various medical concerns. This latest emergency prevents her from returning to the octagon, with no current indication of when she might be able to fight again.
Following the news of the cancellation, opponent Erin Blanchfield shared her reaction and relayed information provided by UFC officials moments before the fight was called off.
Hunter [Campbell] came in, he was saying that she was having a seizure and she’s having medical issues and she’s not going to be able to fight,” Blanchfield stated. “I knew once I saw him, it wasn’t something good because he was being real serious. I feel like I’m in a little disbelief.
Notably, prior to the event, Blanchfield had already expressed reservations about Barber`s previous health issues and her ability to successfully make it to fight night.
In the wake of Saturday`s cancellation, Blanchfield was clear about her future intentions regarding her scheduled opponent.
No, my coaches right away were like ‘don’t entertain her, she’s not on your level,’” Blanchfield said. “Super unprofessional.
Blanchfield indicated she will not pursue rebooking a fight with Barber following these events.
