PHILADELPHIA — Rookie Matvei Michkov scored two goals for the second consecutive game, helping the Philadelphia Flyers to a 7-4 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Goalie Samuel Ersson contributed with 17 saves.
Noah Cates, Owen Tippett, Tyson Foerster, Ryan Poehling, and Jakob Pelletier also scored for the Flyers. This win marks their second straight victory after a coaching change earlier in the week.
Jack Quinn scored two goals for the Sabres, while Alex Tuch and John-Jason Peterka each added one. Buffalo`s three-game winning streak was broken as they began a three-game road trip. Goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 25 saves for the Sabres.
Michkov`s first goal came in the first six minutes of the game, a wrist shot assisted by Travis Konecny and Yegor Zamula. His second goal, another assist from Konecny, was a backhand shot in the second period. The impressive rookie now has 24 goals and 32 assists in 73 games.
