The Toronto Maple Leafs took to the ice for their morning skate on Sunday in anticipation of Game 4, but one key player was noticeably absent.
Team captain Auston Matthews did not participate in the practice session with the rest of his teammates. However, it has been confirmed that he will indeed be in the lineup for the game against the Florida Panthers.
This instance is not the first time Matthews has skipped a morning skate. He also did so during the first round of the playoffs against the Ottawa Senators.
Matthews hasn`t quite found his typical scoring touch during the current Stanley Cup Playoffs, having scored only two goals so far. Despite this, he has contributed significantly, accumulating 10 points across nine games.
The 27-year-old forward`s regular season was limited to 64 games as he was managing an undisclosed injury.
Toronto currently holds a 2-1 advantage in the series, although they lost Game 3 to the Panthers in overtime.
Game 4 between the Leafs and Panthers is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET/ 4:30 p.m. PT.
