
The Nashville Predators have officially signed Matthew Wood, a former first-round draft pick, to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Announced on Saturday, the contract brings the promising winger into the Predators organization. Wood, who was the 15th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, has just completed a season in the NCAA with the University of Minnesota. During his time there, the 20-year-old talent amassed 39 points in 39 games, scoring 17 goals and providing 22 assists. Prior to his season at Minnesota, Wood played for two seasons at the University of Connecticut.
Before his college career, Wood, originally from Lethbridge, Alberta, and raised in Nanaimo, British Columbia, played two seasons with the Victoria Grizzlies in the BCHL.
Following Minnesota`s exit from the NCAA Tournament after a loss to UMass Amherst, the Predators have confirmed that Wood is expected to join the team in the coming days.
