Mateusz Gamrot Blasts Benoit Saint Denis for Turning Down Short-Notice Bout

Sports news » Mateusz Gamrot Blasts Benoit Saint Denis for Turning Down Short-Notice Bout

UFC lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot is voicing his displeasure with the current state of the division`s top fighters.

Despite holding the No. 7 rank in the UFC lightweight rankings, Gamrot has expressed difficulty in securing high-profile matchups recently, even after publicly calling out several potential opponents. He highlighted Arman Tsarukyan, ranked No. 1, recently declining a main event opportunity in Abu Dhabi, particularly frustrating as Gamrot already holds a victory over Tsarukyan.

According to Gamrot, this isn`t an isolated incident.

On Monday, Gamrot took aim at the No. 13 ranked Benoit Saint Denis, alleging that Saint Denis refused a short-notice fight offer for this coming Saturday at UFC 315. Saint Denis was originally slated to open the main card against Joel Alvarez, but Alvarez was forced to withdraw due to a hand injury, and a replacement has yet to be announced. Gamrot apparently volunteered to step in but claims his offer was rejected.

“BSD turned down the fight next week, what’s wrong with you guys? Grow some balls, cowards!”

However, it`s not entirely negative news for “Gamer.” Mateusz Gamrot is currently scheduled to compete against the unranked Ludovit Klein in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 107 later this month. Klein is undefeated since returning to the 155-pound division, boasting a record of six wins and one majority draw.
