UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori and his family are experiencing a devastating loss.
On Tuesday, Vettori shared a message announcing the passing of his brother, Patrick, at the age of 29. According to reports from Italian MMA journalist Al Zullino, Patrick tragically died in an accidental fire at his home.
Vettori`s heartfelt message, translated by Zullino, reads:
“You were and always will be my number one, my little brother.
You leave behind a void that can never be filled, and my love for you will last until my final breath.
I don`t think I will ever be the same after this day. Perhaps I never told you enough, but you were always my strength.
You were the brighter and more intelligent one between us. You were building a wonderful future, and I am struggling to accept this.
They say that Jesus calls the most beautiful souls to heaven, and I truly hope it`s true—that you are there with Him, watching over us with your characteristic kindness.
I love you, my brother. And while life without you will be incredibly difficult, I find some solace in knowing that one day I will be laid to rest beside you.
I love you.”
Numerous members of the MMA community have offered their condolences on Marvin`s post, including Megan Olivi, Manel Kape, Clay Guida, and Austin Vanderford.
Marvin, 31, is a former UFC middleweight title challenger and has consistently been ranked in the top 10 of the division for several years. In his most recent fight, he suffered a unanimous decision loss in a rematch against Roman Dolidze, bringing his UFC record to 9 wins, 6 losses, and 1 draw.
