Former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova, 37, had an audience roaring with laughter during a USTA event in Carlsbad, California.

During a Q&A session in front of 1,200 attendees, an audience member`s phone unexpectedly rang.
To everyone`s amusement, Sharapova picked up the call, discovering it was from the questioner`s wife, Kelly.
Sharapova playfully announced, “Kelly, this is Maria Sharapova, and we`re in front of 1,200 people. Just wanted to say hello!”
Kelly responded with an enthusiastic “But… hello!”
Sharapova then joked, “Your husband mentioned you were calling, so we had to answer. He says he loves you!”
The crowd, along with Sharapova, erupted in laughter again when Kelly replied, “Alrighty!”
Sharapova, once considered among the sexiest athletes, handed back the phone, adding, “I’ll let you continue this conversation privately.”
A video of the funny phone call was shared on Instagram by an audience member, who captioned it, “Just in case you didn`t know, Maria Sharapova is so funny. She just live chatted with a person`s wife who was calling while he was asking her a question. Such a fun moment!”
Maria Sharapova retired from tennis in January 2020, having won five Grand Slam titles and held the world No. 1 ranking for 21 weeks.
