The Toronto Maple Leafs are likely to be without their starting goaltender as they face their first elimination game this season.
Head coach Craig Berube informed reporters that Anthony Stolarz is doubtful to travel with the team to Florida for Game 6.
Stolarz, who was forced out of Game 1 due to injury, skated on Thursday for the second time since sustaining the issue.
The 31-year-old goaltender exited the series opener after receiving an elbow to the head from Panthers forward Sam Bennett.
The hit from his former Florida teammate occurred after Stolarz had already taken a shot off his mask earlier in the game.
The 31-year-old went to the locker room shortly after Bennett`s hit – reportedly becoming ill before reaching the bench – and was subsequently taken to a local hospital for assessment.
Joseph Woll has since taken over the starting role, recording an .877 save percentage and a 4.02 goals-against average over five appearances.
The Maple Leafs currently trail the Panthers 3-2 in the second-round series. Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
