The Toronto Maple Leafs will continue their push for the Atlantic Division title without two key players in their lineup for the time being.
Defenseman Jake McCabe and center David Kampf will not participate in Saturday`s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, as announced by head coach Craig Berube on Friday.
Both players sustained injuries during the team`s Wednesday victory over the Florida Panthers. Consequently, they missed practice and are currently considered day-to-day, according to Berube.
McCabe suffered an injury after being hit into the boards with less than two minutes remaining in Wednesday`s game. He did not play for the final 1:10 as the Leafs defended a 3-2 lead.
The nature of Kampf`s injury remains unclear.
In practice, defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson took McCabe`s place alongside Chris Tanev, while Philippe Myers filled in on the third pairing with Simon Benoit.
Forward Nick Robertson replaced Kampf on the fourth line, with Pontus Holmberg shifting to center.
McCabe has recorded two goals and 23 points in 66 games this season, averaging a career-high 21:31 of ice time.
