In goal for Toronto, Anthony Stolarz made 8 saves before leaving the game in the second period due to an undisclosed injury. Joseph Woll stepped in relief and stopped 17 shots to secure the win. Max Pacioretty and Jake McCabe each registered two assists for the Florida Panthers in the series opener.
