Luana Santos has officially carved her name into the UFC record books with a remarkable submission victory.
Competing in a women`s bantamweight preliminary bout at UFC Vegas 106 held at the UFC APEX, Santos faced Tainara Lisboa. With mere seconds left in the second round, Santos executed a textbook Americana submission, forcing Lisboa to tap. This finish is significant as it marks the first time this specific submission technique has been successfully applied in the history of the UFC women`s divisions.
This fight was Santos`s first appearance since her decision loss to Casey O`Neill at UFC 305 last August. Prior to that setback, the 25-year-old fighter had a strong start in the octagon, winning her initial three bouts. These early victories included impressive stoppage wins over Mariya Agapova and Juliana Miller. With this latest win, her recent record now stands at 6 wins and 1 loss in her last seven outings.
Tainara Lisboa entered the Octagon undefeated within the UFC ranks. However, the submission loss to Santos is her first defeat under the promotional banner and brings an end to her overall five-fight winning streak.
