UFC featherweight contender Lerone Murphy has shared his perspective on his highly anticipated clash with Movsar Evloev at UFC London.
This Saturday night, two of the top featherweights, Lerone Murphy and Movsar Evloev, are set to headline UFC London in a pivotal main event. Both fighters present compelling arguments for a shot at the title, but only one will likely advance to challenge Alexander Volkanovski for the championship later this year.
Murphy enters this bout on the heels of a spectacular knockout victory over Aaron Pico, a win that solidified his standing among the elite in the featherweight division. Evloev, meanwhile, boasts an unblemished record within the UFC and is undoubtedly viewing this fight as his prime opportunity to make a significant statement.
In a recent interview, Lerone Murphy offered his insights on the upcoming contest, expressing high stakes for the victor.

“It’s a huge fight, and I genuinely believe the winner will go on to become champion,” Murphy stated.
He also addressed current champion Alexander Volkanovski’s recent assertion that he feels an obligation to face the most deserving contender next.
“How can you not admire that?” Murphy remarked. “I deeply respect it. Everyone respects Volkanovski. He’s pragmatic and ranks among the greatest featherweights of all time. For him to voice that sentiment, I believe it truly reflects how the sport should operate, and he serves as an excellent pioneer for it.”
Despite the massive implications, Murphy remains focused solely on the immediate challenge. “I’m not looking beyond this Saturday,” he affirmed. “My goal is to give everything I have this Saturday, so I’m unsure when I’ll step back into the octagon next. However, regardless of the outcome, I want to maintain an active fight schedule. After the Pico fight, I was eager for another bout; I even thought I’d fight in December.”
He continued, highlighting his desire for consistent competition: “I’ve been inactive for about six or seven months. Honestly, at 34, you don’t want to take such long breaks, especially when you’re healthy. For me, staying active is crucial. So, I aim to return to fighting by the end of summer, no matter what.”
