Despite being sidelined with an injury for the final Clasico, Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal was a prominent figure during the team’s La Liga title celebrations. The 18-year-old, considered crucial to their championship success, actively participated in the open-top bus parade.
Earlier in the day, Yamal had already generated buzz on social media with a celebratory post after Ferran Torres’ goal in their 2-0 victory over Real Madrid, captioned “talk is cheap.” This was widely interpreted as a subtle jab at a previous post by Jude Bellingham.
Lamine Yamal Displays Palestinian Flag
The celebratory parade featured numerous flags, predominantly those of Barcelona and Catalonia. However, during the procession, which journeyed from Camp Nou to the city center and back, Lamine Yamal was seen raising a Palestinian flag from the bus. Support for Palestine has been notably present in Spain over the past year.
Yamal Sports Anti-Madridista Shirt
In addition to the Palestinian flag, Lamine Yamal also conveyed a clear message towards Real Madrid. He was photographed wearing a shirt that declared, “Thank God I’m not a Madridista,” a statement that is likely to make him unpopular at the Santiago Bernabeu on future visits.
Rayo Vallecano Player Also Honors Palestine
Lamine Yamal is not the only player in Spain to have recently shown support for Palestine. Ilias Akhomach, a winger for Rayo Vallecano (on loan from Villarreal) and a former Barcelona academy graduate, was seen holding a Palestinian flag amidst fan celebrations after Rayo’s home win in the Conference League.
