Following Real Madrid’s final season match, a 4-2 victory against Athletic Club, several players and staff bid farewell. While Dani Carvajal and David Alaba made their final on-pitch appearances, head coach Alvaro Arbeloa opted for a less conspicuous departure.
Arbeloa had announced his departure prior to the Athletic match. His exit was widely anticipated, given the club’s lack of silverware since he took over from Xabi Alonso in January, and reports of a strained dressing room atmosphere under his management.
One notable player who had experienced friction with Arbeloa during his tenure was Kylian Mbappe. Mbappe had openly voiced his criticisms of the head coach to the media. However, it appears the pair have since resolved their differences and are parting on amicable terms, judging by their recent social media activity.
According to Marca, Mbappe posted a message on Instagram wishing Arbeloa well. Arbeloa responded with a gracious reply:
“Thank you so much, Kylian. I will always brag that I coached such an extraordinary football player with unparalleled talent. Hard times donโt last forever, but strong people do. Onto everything thatโs coming.”
Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham Also Extend Their Regards
While not an extensive list of Real Madrid players dedicated posts to Arbeloa, some prominent figures took the opportunity to send him messages for the future. Antonio Rudiger, Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior all wished him well. Arbeloa, in turn, responded to each of them, notably describing Bellingham as “a born leader, an exceptional professional and a wonderful person,” and telling Vinicius that “it has been an honour to be your coach.”
