Sports news » KSI reveals Conor McGregor turned down boxing match against him: ‘He’s all over the place’

Social media personality and boxer KSI has disclosed that he attempted to arrange a significant boxing match against former UFC champion Conor McGregor, but the offer was ultimately declined.

KSI had hoped to host the high-profile bout at the unique location of Alcatraz Island near San Francisco. However, the Irish mixed martial arts superstar did not accept the proposal. McGregor himself had previously mentioned an Alcatraz offer back in March without specifically naming KSI as the opponent, stating it “wasn’t my worth.”

Regarding McGregor`s refusal, KSI stated he wasn`t given a definitive reason but suspects it could be due to various factors, including financial considerations or McGregor`s current focus. KSI expressed his view that McGregor seems unfocused, saying, “He’s all over the place. One minute he wants to be the prime minister of Ireland, the next he wants to do a random side quest.” KSI added that he will “move on” and focus on his own career.

Speculation persists regarding McGregor`s future in combat sports. He recently withdrew from a planned fight against Michael Chandler in 2024 due to a broken toe. Currently, McGregor is involved in co-owning the bare-knuckle promotion BKFC and has spoken about pursuing a run for the Irish Presidency.

Adding to the uncertainty, UFC CEO Dana White recently commented that he does not anticipate the 36-year-old McGregor competing again “anytime soon.”

Meanwhile, KSI is also facing delays in his return to the ring. He was previously scheduled to fight Dillon Danis in March but withdrew due to illness. He now reveals he has been struggling with a hand injury for approximately a year, which prevents him from punching effectively.

KSI stated that the injury requires surgery, after which he will need rehabilitation before he can resume full training and pursue major fights. He anticipates being sidelined for an unspecified period while he recovers.
