Thompson shared his grief on Instagram, remembering their time together and wishing Rocco peace in the afterlife. He wrote, “I’m gonna miss Rocco a lot, 13 glorious years with my boy. I know he’s in doggy heaven poppin somebody’s ball. A great dynasty dog he was. Thank you for all the sweet messages! All dogs go to Heaven!”
Rocco became well-known during Thompson`s successful years with the Golden State Warriors as part of the “Splash Brothers” duo. He was often seen as the All-Star guard`s close companion and gained popularity among fans.
In a 2019 interview, Thompson highlighted Rocco as his number one essential, calling him a “loyal steed” and expressing the special place the dog held in his heart as his first pet.
