Kevin Holland calls out Colby Covington, Carlos Prates after UFC 316 win

Sports news » Kevin Holland calls out Colby Covington, Carlos Prates after UFC 316 win

Following his decisive victory at UFC 316, Kevin Holland has already identified two potential opponents he hopes to meet inside the UFC octagon in the near future.

Holland kicked off the main card at Saturday`s UFC 316 event in impressive fashion, securing a second-round submission victory over Vicente Luque in their welterweight bout. The event took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Immediately after his win, Holland publicly called out Colby Covington. He later explained his reasoning to reporters backstage following the event.

“Yeah, I think it would be a good one,” Holland stated regarding a fight with Covington. “I know they`re doing [The Ultimate Fighter] right now with Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen, but to be honest with you, they can really cancel that one. They can just do me and Colby.”

He continued, emphasizing the marketability of the matchup, “…Anything you want to do with me and Colby, it`ll sell. It can be a lot of fun, it can be a lot of shit talking, it can be whatever the case needs to be, but I think me and Colby does numbers. We`d be the highest Fight Night, and if we were on a pay-per-view, co-main event, we`d help sell that thing out. You wouldn`t even need a stacked undercard.”

During the same media availability, Holland also addressed the possibility of a fight with Carlos Prates and generally discussed the types of matchups he is targeting moving forward in his career.
