Addressing the popular `Mount Rushmore` concept for MMA, which asks fans and fighters to name their top four, Jones offered his selections. While acknowledging the subjective nature of defining `greatness,` his choices, including himself, align with widely recognized legends.
Speaking to Vic Blends on YouTube, Jones named his top four, stating, “Top four — Demetrious Johnson, Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre and myself.” He added that the order wasn`t specific and emphasized that all four have achieved significant feats in the sport.
Jones` own impressive career includes being the longest-reigning light heavyweight champion in UFC history and later capturing the heavyweight title. His professional record shows only one loss, a disqualification against Matt Hamill resulting from illegal elbows, in a fight he otherwise dominated – a result many consider a technicality rather than a true defeat.
Georges St-Pierre holds the record for the longest welterweight title reign in UFC history with nine consecutive defenses, and also claimed the middleweight belt by submitting Michael Bisping.
Demetrious Johnson surpassed both Jones and St-Pierre in terms of sheer title defenses, setting a UFC record with 11 consecutive wins, exceeding Anderson Silva`s previous mark of 10.
Jones also shared his admiration for Anderson Silva, whom he regards as his “idol,” admitting he still feels nervous interacting with the legendary former champion.
