Jiri Prochazka Undertakes Extreme Frozen Lake Swim

Sports news » Jiri Prochazka Undertakes Extreme Frozen Lake Swim

Known for his unique approach to preparation, Jiri Prochazka continues to challenge his boundaries in unconventional ways. The former UFC light heavyweight champion is widely regarded as one of the most eccentric personalities in mixed martial arts.

In the past, Prochazka`s training methods have included rigorous mental exercises like spending three days without water in darkness to confront what he described as “working with his demons,” and physically demanding routines such as punching trees hundreds of times daily before fights. Now, “BJP” has once again surpassed his previous feats.

Earlier this week, Prochazka shared a short documentary on his YouTube channel, chronicling his attempt to swim a distance of 30 meters beneath the surface of a frozen lake.

Ice diving is considered inherently dangerous, presenting significant risks including drowning, hypothermia, and other severe hazards. However, for Prochazka, who is perpetually seeking to test his limits, this challenge offered precisely the kind of experience he thrives on.

Prochazka articulated his perspective on these extreme activities, stating:

“Everything I do here, regarding the breath, regarding all these various trips to the mountains, climbing mountains, training martial arts, MMA, all these things simply help me, mainly and above all, to keep myself fully under control; to expand my self confidence, the spirit with which I go into battle. A person doesn’t actually go into the MMA cage only with what they’ve trained, but they go there with their entire history, with everything, all the hard things they experience in life.”

Prochazka`s most recent competitive appearance was in January, when he secured a knockout victory over Jamahal Hill at UFC 311.
