The Winnipeg Jets, winners of the Presidents` Trophy, are ensuring their core group stays together.
Forward Alex Iafallo has signed a three-year, $11 million contract extension, the team announced on Wednesday.
Iafallo`s previous contract was nearing its end this season.
The 31-year-old Iafallo joined the Jets from the Los Angeles Kings in the Pierre-Luc Dubois trade before the previous season and has played in every game for Winnipeg since then.
This season, the left winger from Eden, N.Y., has accumulated 15 goals and 16 assists, totaling 31 points with a plus-21 rating. He has been playing on the Jets` top line with Gabe Vilardi, who is currently recovering from an upper-body injury, and has recorded two goals and three assists in his last six games.
Vilardi, who has been out since March 23rd, has resumed skating as of Tuesday and is currently considered day-to-day.
Iafallo, originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kings in 2017, has played 583 career games, amassing 262 points (111 goals, 151 assists), along with 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 21 playoff games.
The Jets have already secured the best record in the league with one game remaining, boasting a 55-22-4 record for 114 points. They are set to face the St. Louis Blues in the first round of the playoffs.
