The Dallas Stars are facing a significant setback as they head into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Key winger Jason Robertson will be out on a week-to-week basis. This announcement was made by Stars senior staff writer Mike Heika, confirming that Robertson suffered a lower-body injury during the team`s final regular-season game on Wednesday.
The injury occurred when Robertson collided with Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron. He was seen in discomfort on the bench following the collision. According to Emma Lingen, a Predators reporter for The Hockey News, Robertson was observed leaving Bridgestone Arena with a brace on his right knee.
Stars head coach Peter DeBoer commented on the unfortunate timing of the injury, especially considering the team`s efforts to rest players before the playoffs. He stated to reporters, as per Mike Heika from NHL.com, that avoiding injuries was the goal of resting players, making the Robertson situation a tough blow.
Robertson has been a crucial player for the Stars this season, contributing 35 goals and 45 assists for a total of 80 points across all 82 regular-season games.
When questioned about the possibility of Robertson playing in the series against the Avalanche, DeBoer suggested that if the series extends beyond a week, there might be a chance.
The Stars are set to begin their series against the Colorado Avalanche in Dallas on Saturday night.
